Hold your index finger and thumb approximately 3 cm apart and have somebody else drop a ruler between the two as shown below.

The person should not tell you when the ruler is being released. As soon as you see that it has been released, close your finger and thumb to grasp the ruler and stop it from falling. Record how many centimeters the ruler drops before you catch it. The faster you react, the less the ruler will drop before being caught.
