Laboratory Notebook

Completeness

_____The laboratory notebook should contain procedures and any class handouts pertaining to the lab, your notes raw data, your final lab reports after they are graded and returned, any references used for the lab, and any other materials used for the lab. The notebook should also include the course syllabus and the laboratory safety document. Part of the grade for the notebook will be for completeness (2).

Student's Notes

_____Part of the reason for requiring a notebook is to require students to take notes and keep their materials organized for reference. Students should therefore take notes as they perform the laboratory exercises and include these notes in the notebook. Part of the grade for the notebook will be for completeness and adequacy of the student's notes (3).

Organization, Usability

_____The notebook should be organized so that anybody reading it can quickly find information. Part of the notebook grade will be based on organization, neatness, and readability (1).
