Assignment 8

Students will write a report on a topic related to malware. After being assigned a topic, students will:

1. Research the subject
2. Write a report
3. Present the report to the class.

For example, if you are assigned the topic of "Viruses" your written report could identify and describe the categories of viruses, provide information on how viruses spread, discuss the methods of protection and describe ways to clean an infected system. Your presentation to the class would be a condensed version of the written report presented by a handout and supported with a PowerPoint. Therefore, this assignment requires the following three items:

• One written report .
• One handout, processed with Office 2007 Word, that may may be duplicated for all students.
• A PowerPoint presentation authored by Office 2007 Power Point that supports the handout information.

The written report is the gradable item for this module - the class presentation and handout will not be graded. Students are free to research the topic using any method they choose but must document sources of information and be able to defend the references. I recommend that students only use reputable sources because they are easily defended.

The written report shall be graded as follows:

1. How well the report is written. The report has introductory info, supporting paragraphs and a summary or conclusion.
2. The report is technically accurate as applicable to the topic.
3. The report demonstrates good grammar and attention to detail.
4. Reports must have a cover sheet, use size 12 Times New Roman font, 1.5 line spacing and have a reference page.
